What is it? Co-hosted by the Wisconsin Hoofers and Adventure Learning Programs, the 21st annual Student Outdoor Educators Conference (SOEC) offers emerging outdoor education and recreation enthusiasts the opportunity to share, teach, and learn while participating in a professional conference setting. SOEC offers aspiring outdoor educators skill development workshops and networking with other emerging professionals. Reaching out primarily to the Midwest region, SOEC draws students from a variety of backgrounds to share their experiences with the greater outdoor industry.

When is it?  Friday, March 27- Sunday March 29

Where is it? Memorial Union, University of Wisconsin-Madison

What can be expected? The 2020 Student Outdoor Educators Conference will offer professional development workshops, designed and facilitated by students. Workshops will cover a range of topics including technical skills, history and philosophy of the outdoor recreation and education industry, as well as educational programming best practices.

Students interested in creating and presenting a workshop can find out more information by contacting Elizabeth Hayes at ehayes4@wisc.edu.

Why come? The Student Outdoor Educators Conference provides attendees with an opportunity to meet and interact with like-minded emerging professionals in the field of outdoor education and recreation. Spend a weekend sharing knowledge and experience with future colleagues while gaining valuable insight into our industry’s foundations and best practices.
