Join other outdoor and experiential professionals for a three-week, online course covering all aspects of safety for experiential, wilderness, adventure, travel-based and outdoor programs. This comprehensive and acclaimed 32-hour course covers staffing, participant management, equipment, venues, subcontractors, insurance, safety audits, COVID-19, systems thinking, and much more.
 
The course has four one-hour live videoconference sessions, one week apart. In between live sessions are Independent Work Periods. Here participants engage in online video lecture presentations, readings, scenarios and role-plays, quizzes, discussion forums, organizational self-assessments, and more.
 
Live sessions are scheduled at 11 am New York time (UTC-5). For APAC participants, sessions are at 11 am Singapore time (UTC+8).
 
The course text book is Risk Management for Outdoor Programs: A Guide to Safety in Outdoor Education, Recreation and Adventure (preview a section at https://www.viristar.com/book).
 
A certificate valid for three years is provided by Viristar upon successful course completion.
