COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Low challenge courses provide programs with many creative programming options. Come and explore this valuable group development tool. Participants new to the field will learn the technical, facilitation, and safety management skills required for a quality low elements challenge course program. 

Seasoned practitioners will leave with new ideas and variations for using low challenge course activities.

Participants will:

  • Be introduced to foundational adventure theory. Including a variety of warm-up activities, problem-solving games, trust sequences, to better prepare your participants for maximum engagement.
  • Learn and practice operational skills such as spotting techniques and requirements, standard operating procedures (SOP) and variations, daily element inspection and disabling of low elements.
  • Experience and practice techniques for maximizing the challenge course  experience including different ways to present and frame activities, sequencing and scaffolding of skills, altering the level of difficulty/challenge, accommodations for differing abilities & processing/reflection techniques.
