Are your best practices "best" for everyone? Sometimes, core policies can be harmful for individuals. Most people believe that diversity and inclusion work can force people to be marginalized. In this workshop, we'll talk about the "Eight Inclusion Needs of All People." We can understand and read policies that can improve cultures and retention across all organizations.
 




 

Meet Carmela Montenegro (she/they)

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Consultant, Not Mad Just Misunderstood

Carmela Montenegro is a sought after Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Expert in the outdoor industry. Based in the resort town of Keystone, Colorado, she advocates for utilizing niche, and historically underrepresented communities.

Since she started DEI work in 2017, she has been the youngest presenter at DisruptHR Denver 14.0 and was awarded the Advocacy & Inclusion Award at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Currently, she is an Outdoor Industry MBA student researching equity in the outdoors. She aims to educate future outdoor leaders and she is currently on the Summit County Planning Committee.

Her primary topics of expertise include understanding levels of oppression, developing inclusive cultures, and auditing policies.
