The Science of Outdoor Risk Management: Theoretical Models Essential for Safety Excellence
5/3/2022 - 5/3/2022
1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST

Event Description
Many experienced outdoor recreation and education providers are rightly proud of their safety systems. But is your approach to risk management taking advantage of recent advances in safety thinking? Are you benefiting from safety research in other disciplines, and leading models of incident prevention across industries?

In this webinar we’ll de-mystify risk management terms, including complex socio-technical systems theory, Safety-I/Safety-II, Resilience Engineering, and Safety Differently.

And we’ll explore a practical model specifically designed for applying these theories to outdoor recreation and education programs.

You’ll leave the webinar with a comprehensive, systems-informed model by which you can evaluate your existing risk management systems and identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll also receive resources for additional learning.
