This association chat will highlight a 2-year old initiative that is part of the American Camp Association. Those who work in camps and then look to move into the more traditional workforce are often told that “Camp is not a real job” and the work skills they learned there are dismissed. Volunteers within the ACA have created webinars, podcasts, infographics, social media assets, magazine articles, and made presentations around the country to help camp professionals translate what they have learned at camp to more traditional job settings. Those efforts are focused on the camp staff member, their parents (as most frontline camp staff are college students), and faculty advisors.
