|New Strategic Alliance Between the Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education and the Association of Experiential Education|
AORE and AEE continue to serve their members by offering an expanded range of benefits and opportunities while advancing their respective industries
ANN ARBOR, MICH. – August 20, 2015 – Association of Outdoor Recreation and Education (AORE) and Association of Experience Education (AEE) have come together to embark on a strategic partnership. Through open communication and collaboration between the like-minded organizations on a national level, this partnership will help promote industry best practices, aid in the identification of industry issues and move towards a common goal – connecting more individuals to the value of nature and the outdoors.
“I am delighted to work alongside AEE CEO Rob Smariga and his staff as we advance the profession of outdoor recreation and education,” noted Jeannette Stawski, AORE Executive Director. “We are excited to further expand to both memberships a larger network, increased resources, and use our combined voices to promote the value of adventure and experiential education and the important role it plays in our communities, our campuses, and our installations and most importantly the participants we serve.”
AORE provides opportunities for professionals and students in outdoor recreation and education to exchange information, promote the preservation and conservation of the natural environment, and address issues common to college, university, community, military, and other not-for-profit outdoor recreation and education programs. AORE brings together programmers, teachers, leaders, and students involved in outdoor programs who enjoy networking and communication opportunities through the annual conference, association newsletters, a communal AORE listserv, conference proceedings, and several publications including the Journal of Outdoor Recreation, Education and Leadership.
“The members of AEE and AORE are engaged in meaningful work facilitating change in individuals through outdoor experiences,” said Rob Smariga, AEE CEO. “Together, our two organizations can provide even more support to those remarkable programs and raise awareness of their impact.”
AEE connects a global community of educators and practitioners and expands their capacity to enrich lives through experiential education. AEE members represent many fields that utilize experiential education methodologies - outdoor, classroom, human service, organizational training, therapeutic and adventure settings. Through the AEE International Conference, the Journal of Experiential Education, regional conferences and other resources, AEE inspires collaboration among individuals with different backgrounds and perspectives and connects experiential education professionals around the world.
AEE and AORE share and celebrate their Strategic Partnership. Members of both organizations will experience these added member benefits of our strategic alliance:
The 2015 AORE Annual Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, November 18-20, at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel.
