Association Chat | Benefitting from the Outdoor Economy
8/18/2021 - 8/18/2021
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Event Description
Outdoor facilitators are seeking a better understanding of how they, and their programs, may benefit from the growing $788 billion outdoor industry.  As economies recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, the outdoor recreation sector can provide a significant contribution to states’ recovery and long-term economic growth. Beyond the immediate task of recovery, state partnerships and investment in higher education and training programs can play a crucial role in equipping the skilled workforce needed to carry a growing outdoor recreation economy into the future.  Join AORE Leadership and members as we come together to discuss industry current events, challenges and member questions.

On this chat, we will be joined by past AORE BOD member Andy Williamson who is a leader with the Outdoor Economy Conference which connects, educates, and inspires leaders and doers working to grow the outdoor industry and craft an economy that’s intimately tied to the well-being of their places and communities.

Then, we will learn about Oregon State University’s new Center for the Outdoor Recreation Economy and its efforts in developing a national workforce development consortium for states, industry, and academic institutions to collaborate on skills-based training and higher education programs to prepare the talented and diverse workforce the growing outdoor recreation economy requires.

The second half of our chat is open forum. We invite you to bring your current challenges, successes, questions, and experiences. As a collective group, we will determine the path of discussion the forum takes and provide opportunity for members to support each other through shared experiences.
