Reflections on Running a BIPOC Climbing Course
7/27/2021 - 7/27/2021
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Event Description
In spring 2021, Cornell Outdoor Education offered its first PE course specifically aimed at reaching minority students of color.  Hear first hand about how this class went, what was learned, and what you can expect when you step into sticky topics (hint: it is not all pretty).

About the Presenter:
Andrew McLaughlin, Climbing Program Coordinator at Cornell Outdoor Education since 2013, believes in the power of people and groups to learn and grow together by creating supportive and challenging environments. While studying Geological Sciences at University of Oregon, he fell in love with rock climbing and has worked in challenge course and industrial rope access settings so that he can look out on beautiful scenery with great people ever since.
