AORE Equity Challenge
4/17/2023 - 5/18/20231:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST
Event Description
WHAT IT IS: Available to both AORE members and non-members, this 5 week program is intended to provide resources and intentional self reflection discussion to help each participant understand what it means to be anti-racist.
DESIGNED FOR: Furthering members and non-members understanding of racial equity. We recognize some folks may have learning opportunities at their place of employment, but we wanted to hold a space for individuals to do this personal reflection and awareness work with other colleagues from the outdoor industry.
WHY: These resources will help each of us individually understand what it means to be anti-racist and consider how we collectively can facilitate this work. Unpacking elements of the challenge through conversations that center around racial equity and the examination of individual, interpersonal and institutional racism and oppression which may exist within AORE’s practices, as well as within the outdoor recreation ecosystem broadly.
Instead of meeting weekly, we will have a forum to discuss weekly prompts. We will have a final virtual meetup on May 18th at 1pm EST
Resource materials will be shared with participants via email and our discussion forum each Monday morning starting April 17. By registering for this Equity Challenge you are agreeing to:
Thank you to our facilitator, Nicole Pokorney (AORE Board Treasurer), for volunteering your time and support for this program!
This session is free for members and $50 for not-yet-members.
